Rogues’ bats struggle in loss to Crabs By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Jul 20, 2022 09:33 PM A A ARCATA, Calif. — The Medford Rogues fell behind early and never recovered as they opened the final series of their road trip through Northern California with a 10-1 loss to the Humboldt Crabs Tuesday night at the Arcata Ball Park. Humboldt’s Tyler Davis hit a pair of home runs and a triple to lead a Crabs offense that outhit the Rogues 12-4 on the night. Davis finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs, nearly recording as many hits on his own as the Rogues (17-16-1) had as a team in the game. Humboldt starting pitcher Marcelo Saldana limited Medford to three hits over seven shutout innings. He struck out nine and walked one. The Rogues broke up the Humboldt shutout bid in the top of the ninth when Reece MacRae came home on a Crabs error. The Crabs were looking for their third consecutive shutout and entered Wednesday night’s series finale on a run of 15 wins in their last 16 games.
