It's snowing in the mountains, and more is coming Snow begins to come down hard on I-5 near the Siskiyou Summit Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, with the heaviest snowfall expected between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. tomorrow. Mount Ashland could see more than two feet of snow by Thursday night, with more than three feet expected for Crater Lake, according to meteorologist Ryan Sandler. "The mountains are going to get pretty good snow out of this," Sandler said. Snow levels today have hovered around 4,000 feet, with wet snow on the Siskiyou Summit. Snow levels could hit 1,700 feet overnight, which is low enough to dust some areas of the valley. "Then we have it down to near the valley floor," Sandler said. "People may see flurries. Just a little bit. A trace kind of thing." The wet weather is expected to continue Thursday, with accumulations of up to seven inches of snow in the mountains. Motorists should plan for slippery roads, especially when traveling on highway passes. A wet weekend is expected to follow, Sandler said, with a drying trend expected to start late next week and possibly continue for a couple weeks.
