Fowler paces South to girls golf victory South Medford junior Abby Fowler shot an 8-over-par 81 to earn medalist honors Tuesday in a four-team prep girls golf match at Rogue Valley Country Club. South Medford edged St. Mary's for the team title with its 373-stroke total. St. Mary's was second with 379, Henley third at 398 and North Medford fourth at 528. Katie Johnson of St. Mary's was second in the individual competition with an 87 and Katie Mania of the Crusaders was third at 93. "It was Katie Johnson's first tournament of the year," said St. Mary's coach Bert Putney. "It was a good round of golf for her first of the year." Putney said he had his sights set on St. Mary's defeating all of the bigger schools. "We had two 4A teams (North Medford and South Medford), a 3A (Henley) and little old St. Mary's (2A)," said Putney. "We came close to beating them all."
