Ashland girls top Sheldon, 13-8 ASHLAND -- The Ashland Grizzlies earned a little revenge in water polo action Monday, and possibly their best win in the three-year history of the program, as the Ashland girls topped Sheldon 13-8 at Southern Oregon University. Having suffered their only defeat to the vaunted Sheldon team, the girls exacted revenge as Jordan Scheffler led the attack with six goals, five assists and three steals. Jessica Mattson and Quinn Brightenburg each added three goals and Liz Alrick played spectacular in goal to help Ashland move into first place in Southern Conference play at 14-1. Mattson added two steals, while Gracie Rowland-Dunn scored a goal. The Ashland boys were unable to pull off the sweep, however, falling to Sheldon 17-8 despite three goals from Jacob Salmond and two goals from Brad Scoles. The Grizzlies remained second at 13-2, with both conference losses coming against Sheldon. Evan Mather, Dustin Asher and Morgan Stead each scored a goal to help Ashland's cause.
