South Umpqua star proves too much for the Knights to handle TRI CITY Kelsey Brinkerhoff of host South Umpqua proved to be a one-girl wrecking crew Saturday in the consolation bracket of the Lancers basketball tournament. Brinkerhoff, a 6-foot-2 junior post, dominated inside for a game-high 30 points in nearly outscoring North Valley by herself during a 59-39 triumph. "We just couldnt stop Brinkerhoff," said North Valley coach Byron Robertson. "We just dont have anyone who can match her at 6-2. Shes tough inside." When the Lancers werent controlling the inside, they were busy doing damage on the outside with a half-court trap that caused the Knights (2-5) to cough up 23 turnovers. "We just didnt take care of the ball," said Robertson. "We made some really ill-advised passes at the start of the press then the turnovers compounded and they just ran away with it in the second half." Megan Coston led the Knights with 10 points and six rebounds, while Galina Vial added nine points. KPree Ford-Harris had seven rebounds and six points. Malloree Enoch got in early foul trouble for North Valley and was forced to sit out much of the consolation contest. NORTH VALLEY (39) M. Coston 10, Vial 9, Trader 3, Roberts 0, W.
