Alec Robertson scored a hat trick for the Crusaders (6-2, 5-0 Dist. 5), while Hunter Rothfus added a key goal in the waning minute of the first half and Luka Cvijanovic scored on a header to wrap things up for St. Mary’s. Robertson got the scoring started in the opening minutes off a pass near the top of the box by Rothfus. Midway through the first half, Cascade Christian’s Travis Cave scored an equalizer after winning a scramble for a teammate’s shot off the crossbar and finding the net for the Challengers (3-2, 3-1). St. Mary’s regained momentum in the final minute of the first half when Rothfus dribbled through the defense and scored at the far post for a 2-1 halftime advantage. The Crusaders dominated the second half, with Rothfus setting Robertson up for goals twice in the first 20 minutes. Cvijanovic closed the scoring by converting a corner kick from Bryce Parsons. Cascade Christian suffered a tough loss early in the first half when sophomore defender Zach Booker was lost due to a broken clavicle, according to head coach Terry Fretz. Girls Soccer EAGLE POINT 3, ROGUE RIVER 1 : At Rogue River, Maribel Zepeda, Krystal Van Dyke and Ana Lopez had goals for Eagle Point in the nonconference match. Jessica Wolf made an assist for the Eagles (2-2-2), who were tied 1-1 with Rogue River (2-4) at halftime. CASCADE CHRISTIAN 7, ILLINOIS VALLEY 0 : Cascade Christian senior Makenzie Hickman scored a hat trick in the first half and junior Erika Worthington also finished with three goals in the District 5 rout at U.S. Cellular. Audrey Quast secured the shutout in goal for the Challengers (4-4, 1-0 Dist. 5), while Lauren Cantrell scored in the second half and joined Hickman and Baylee Plankenhorn in posting nice through ball assists. ST. MARY’S 6, LAKEVIEW 0 : MaryBeth Barnum scored a pair of unassisted goals in the second half and had two assists to help St. Mary’s pull away for the District 5 win at U.S. Cellular. Sara Klott and Anna Peterson each scored in the first half to help lead the Crusaders (6-2-1, 2-0 Dist. 5) to their sixth straight victory. Maddie Wheelock and Emily Riehlman also registered a goal, while Wheelock and Gabbi Castillo had assists. Riehlman and Adrian Birmingham combined for the shutout in goal. Volleyball PROSPECT 3, ROGUE VALLEY ADVENTIST 0 : At Prospect, Chrystyna Smith had seven kills and Baley VanWormer six kills for Prospect in a 25-9, 25-17, 25-13 Mountain Valley League win. Chrystyna Smith added 14 assists for the Cougars (6-3, 2-1 MVL).
