The Xplosion defeated Lake Oswego, 2-1, on Saturday then lost to FC Portland on Sunday, 2-1. Caitlin Kelly-Engle and Rachael Barry scored goals in the victory, while Barry also added the lone goal in defeat. Xplosion hosts Portland City United at 1 p.m. at Colver Field in Phoenix on April 26, with the Xplosion advancing to a semifinal match with a victory. Baseball Willamette University freshman and former Ashland High star Mike Allen struck out five in eight innings of pitching and finished 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs during a 13-1 victory for the Bearcats (15-10, 11-4 Northwest Conference) over Linfield on April 8. Allen also went 4-for-4 and pitched eight innings during a 6-5 win over Pacific on Sunday, while junior teammate and former Phoenix High standout Andy Bartels added two hits during a 7-5 loss in the opener of the doubleheader split. Isaac Rolie , 12, tossed a no-hitter for the Adaptive Homes Reds Medford National Little League team Tuesday. Rolie also struck out 12 as the Reds came away with an 8-0 victory. Basketball Hedrick Middle School’s Michael Harthun scored 25 of his career-high tying 33 points in the first half to help lead his ICA/Portland seventh- grade team to a come-from-behind 79-58 victory over United Salad/Portland in the semifinals of the AAU state boys basketball tournament April 6 in Eugene. Harthun’s squad has qualified for the AAU National Championships June 22-30 in Memphis. Golf Herb Vallee carded his first hole-in-one in 47 years of playing golf April 9 at Stewart Meadows Golf Course. The 83-year-old Vallee used a 5-wood to ace the 150-yard, No. 5 hole. Dan Anderson witnessed the hole-in-one. Steve Grove pulled off a rare double eagle April 9 at Stewart Meadows Golf Course by carding a 2 on the par-5, No. 9 hole. Grove used a 3-wood to sink his approach shot from 200 yards out on the 501-yard hole. Witnessing the double eagle were Don Beck, Jim Tribbey, Dick Weber and Dale Baker. Bowling Chuck Eilenberger rolled his second 300 game of the season, his 23rd overall, at Medford Lanes April 7. Chuck Hinks bowled a 300 game in the Buzzsaw League at Lava Lanes April 3. Greg Provost struck 11 frames in a row but left the two pin in the 12th for a 299 game in the Rogue League at Lava Lanes April 7. Don Thorn rolled games of 279 and 255 in the Senior League April 9 at Lava Lanes. Thorn has a 181 average. Rick ImHausen, a South Medford High freshman posted his first 600 series at the Oregon State Junior YABA tournament April 5 at Lava Lanes in Bend. In the doubles event, ImHausen rolled games of 256-189-182 for a 627 series then followed with games of 192-232-199 — 623 series in the singles contest. Melissa Eilenberger became the first woman to win a championship at the Southern Oregon All-Star Tournament at North Bend when she teamed with Jason Bieghler to take the doubles contest April 6. Gary Roberts rolled a 290 in the Rogue League at Lava Lanes April 7. Jim Shreeve bowled a 290 in the Bud Mixed league at Roxy Ann Lanes April 8.
