About 165 teams will compete at the Rogue Memorial Challenge soccer tournament Saturday through Monday, beginning each day at 8 a.m in Medford. Six different sites — including U.S. Cellular sports park and Fichtner-Mainwaring Park — will be used for the age-group competitions ranging from under-10 to under-19, for both boys and girls. The tournament is free to attend and open to the public. Visit roguememorialchallenge.com for more information. Buncom Day 2. Southern Oregon's own ghost town comes alive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday during annual Buncom Day festivities. Events include a parade, a chicken splat contest, live music, face painting, a country store, children’s activities and exhibits about the Applegate and Siskiyou trail associations, fire safety, lace-making and more. A Hawaiian-style lunch will be available. Admission is free. For directions and more information, visit www.buncom.org . Heritage Fair 3. The 2016 Children's Heritage Fair is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Historic Hanley Farm, 1053 Hanley Road, Central Point. Activities include butter-churning, candle-making, spinning, weaving, old-fashioned clothes-washing, garden and farmhouse tours, wheat-grinding, pinch clay pot-making, wagon rides, live music from The Old Time Fiddlers and more. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children age 5 and under. Tours of the historic farmhouse are $3. Call 541-773-6536 or see www.sohs.org . Grants Pass Boatnik 4. The 58th annual Boatnik continues through Memorial Day in Grants Pass. The festival features a parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, a carnival, brewfest, games, competitions, boat races and more. Sunday adds a fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. Drag boats and speed boats will compete on the Rogue River Saturday and Sunday afternoons and the 50-mile Tom Rice Memorial White Water Hydroplane Race begins at 1 p.m. Monday. Armbands are $28 for full admittance to the festival. For more information visit www.boatnik.com . Memorial Day ceremonies 5. Memorial Day services being held Monday include a ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Oregon Fallen War Heroes Memorial at Don Jones Park, 223 W. Vilas Road, Central Point. The memorial will include speeches by U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden and U.S. Rep. Greg Walden, music and refreshments. Wyden and Walden also will speak at the Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point, during a ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon. The Eagle Point service also will include a rifle salute, music and flyovers by U.S. Air Force aircraft.
