He's no longer on the Channel 10 staff listing. — John, by email The answer is yes, John, Kevin Lollis has left the building on Rossanley Drive. But unlike many other local TV celebs who seem to vanish in the dark of night, Lollis' departure — retirement, actually — was well documented by his station, co-workers and fans. His last day at the station was Friday, June 10. KTVL General Manager Kingsley Kelley says Lollis will be missed. "Kevin was endlessly curious about the science behind the weather and in learning all of the forecasting tools that were available to him," Kelley said in an email. "And behind the scenes he was just as he was on the air — upbeat, quick witted, and fun to work with." According to his wix.com bio, Lollis started working in television as a high school student, pulling cable for live sporting events for KING 5 TV in Seattle. Thirty-plus years later, when he left KTVL, he was the station's chief meteorologist and environmental reporter. In between, in the mid-'80s, he worked for a TV station in San Diego as a director and also for an upstart station in Medford, KDRV-TV. His first job in front of the camera was as a news anchor and weather guy for morning and noon shows at KTVL. Then he earned his meteorology degree, was promoted to chief meteorologist, and the rest is history.
