They play an elimination game at 1:30 p.m. Oregon Tech and Corban remained alive in the winners bracket. Great Falls opened the tournament with a 4-3 win over SOU. The Raiders later ousted No. 2 seed Concordia, 6-5, while Great Falls fell 3-2 to OIT. Against Concordia, SOU struck first in the top of the first on a Gina Ayala RBI single. CU went ahead 3-1 in the fourth, but the Raiders responded with three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to make it 6-3. Alexa Gonzalez, Krystina Pardoski and Ayala drove in runs in the fifth. An inning later, Davalin Ontiveros scored on a CU error and Ally Painter rapped an RBI single. With a runner at third and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, the Raiders’ Kayla Douglas made a diving stop on a ball up the middle and threw to first in time to end the game. The Raiders’ Kelsey Randall had three hits, including a double, and Gonzalez, Ayala and Cortney Nolan added two each. Sydnee White earned the pitching win and Brianne Craig the save. In the opener against Great Falls, SOU rallied to tie it 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Randall singled in a run and Douglas, who doubled, scored on a double steal. Gonzalez then hit an RBI single. Gonzalez and Ayala each had two hits. Craig (15-8) suffered the loss, allowing eight hits and four earned runs while striking out five. OREGON 5, CAL 2: At Eugene, behind a season-high 14 strikeouts from Cheridan Hawkins, No. 2-ranked Oregon won the series opener over No. 18 Cal. The Ducks improved to 42-5 (17-2 Pac-12) with their 12th straight win. Oregon is now 15-5 against top-25 foes and has won nine straight against ranked opponents. Cal dropped to 35-14 (7-12) with the loss. Hailey Decker put the Ducks on top early when a sharp grounder took a high hop and bounced over the second baseman’s head for a double, scoring Jenna Lilley from first. Oregon scored twice more in the second when an error on a Danica Mercado bunt allowed Janelle Lindvall and Koral Costa to score. Baseball WASHINGTON 8, OSU 6: At Seattle, Logan Ice hit a three-run home run but Oregon State was unable to hold on to a five-run lead. Ice’s clout, his second of the year, put the Beavers up 5-0 in the first inning. Austin Rei hit a two-run home run in the first inning and a three-run home run in the fifth to pull Washington to within 6-5 of the Beavers (28-14 overall, 11-9 Pac-12 Conference). The Huskies (24-20, 9-14) added two more runs in the inning to take the lead, then added a solo run in the sixth for insurance. Drew Rasmussen started for the Beavers and allowed nine hits and six runs in 4 1/3 innings. The loss went to reliever Sam Tweedt, who was charged with a run allowed on two hits in the fifth. He dropped to 6-1 on the year. OREGON 7, STANFORD 3: At Eugene, Oregon staked starter Cole Irvin to an early lead, as Mitchell Tolman had an RBI triple and scored on an infield out for a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Oregon (26-19, 8-11 Pac-12) loaded the bases on three walks in the second and made it 3-0 when Nick Catalano walked to force in a run, before Tolman drove in two more with a single. An RBI double by Mark Karaviotis made it 6-0 for the Ducks in the third. They would tack on an insurance run in the seventh by loading the bases for pinch hitter Matt Eureste, whose infield single drove in Oregon's final run of the evening. Track and Field RAIDERS GET PRS: At Corvallis, Zach Boyd-Helm and Kevin Jorgensen left the 1,500-meter race with personal bests and top-five NAIA performances at the Oregon State High Performance Meet. Boyd-Helm tied University of Oregon’s Chris Brewer for second place with a time of 3:47.70 that was nearly 12 seconds better than his first crack at the 1,500 this season. He now ranks third on the NAIA performance list in that event and in the 800, qualifying automatically for the NAIA Championships in both events. His time was good for the second-best in SOU history, beating his PR of 3:49.33 established in 2014. Jorgensen was right behind him with a time of 3:48.46 for fourth place in the 24-man race. He moved up from No. 12 to No. 5 on the NAIA list, bettering the mark of 3:52.20 he made on April 3 at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival. He’s an automatic qualifier in the 1,500 and a provisional qualifier in the 800. Unattached runner Jared Hixon was the winner in 3:47.51.
