Parking lot planned at dog park I was wondering if there were any plans to put in a parking lot over by the Medford dog park. As it is now, there are two ways to get to it, both of which are somewhat long. ... There are many people who would like to let their dogs enjoy the benefits of the dog park, but, due to health problems or physical limitations, are unable to make the hike to get to it. There's a nice large flat area next to the dog park that would be a perfect spot for a parking lot. -- Christine Parker, Medford First, the good news. According to Ashland Parks and Recreation Director Greg Jones, there are plans to put in a parking lot. It will accompany a future community center in that area. The bad news is that it's at least six or seven years down the road. The department is looking at the possibility of building the lot earlier, but it has to make sure it doesn't impact construction of the center. So, there's nothing definite yet. Meanwhile, dog walkers will have to continue roughing it. But look at it this way, says Jones: At least the dog is exercised before it even gets to the park.
