Ashland man killed in Baker County crash By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Sep 14, 2021 07:44 AM A A An Ashland man was killed Monday in a motorcycle crash in Eastern Oregon. Lawrence Drake, 78, was riding a KTM 950 motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve on Highway 7 near milepost 23 — about four miles southeast of the town of Sumpter — at about 3:50 p.m. Monday, Oregon State Police reported. First-responders, which included the Baker Fire Department, Powder River Rural Fire Department and Life Flight paramedics, pronounced Drake deceased at the scene.
