Players may compete on both their local youth soccer teams and the FC teams. FC Southern Oregon will compete in state, regional and West Coast tournaments, as well as an Olympic Development Program tournament. Teams will be formed at the under-15 and under-17 age levels for both boys and girls teams. Tryouts will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for under-15 boys and girls and from 2 to 4 p.m. for under-17 players. Rogue Valley Soccer Club head coach Gary Osterhage will coach FC Southern Oregon. Osterhage holds a national A license from the United States Soccer Federation. Registration will begin 45 minutes prior to the tryouts. Registration forms and player information forms are available online at www.rvsoccer.com . The cost for players selected to the teams is $100. Volk, Goodell place highin marathon age groups Southern Oregon runners runners fared well Sunday in the Sacramento Marathon. Joel Wirtz of Ashland placed 41st overall, clocking 2 hours, 43 minutes, 50 seconds. He was 14th in the men’s 30-34 age division. Tammy Volk of Medford placed seventh in the women’s 40-44 age division with a time of 3:15.09. Stan Goodell of Grants Pass placed 19th in the men’s 50-54 division in 3:16:20. Medford’s Randy Nidalmia placed 32nd in the men’s 30-34 division at 2:59:52.
