Adams is candidate for job in Ann Arbor EAGLE POINT -- Schools Superintendent Ted Adams has moved up to top finalist for a superintendent's position in Michigan. An Ann Arbor school board member said Monday that Adams is one of two finalists for the position. A team from Ann Arbor is scheduled to visit the 4,000-student Eagle Point district on Wednesday and Thursday as part of that board's interviewing process. Ann Arbor school board member Bob Rasmussen said the team plans on visiting with community and school representatives. A team from Michigan also will visit the home district of their other finalist in Lansing, Mich. Rasmussen said Monday that the board could meet as early as Friday evening to make a decision. Ann Arbor, home of the University of Michigan, supports a system of 28 schools, including two high schools and an alternative school, and serves about 16,000 students. Rasmussen said the current salary for district superintendent is $116,000. Adams earns $92,000 at Eagle Point. He has told the Eagle Point School Board the he was applying for other positions. Rasmussen said he has been told that Adams also is one of four finalists for a superintendent's position in Minnesota. Rasmussen said the Ann Arbor board seemed most interested in Adams' efforts in Eagle Point to break up centralized control, to let more decisions be made at the school level with community participation.
