Phoenix swimmers set record GRANTS PASS -- The Phoenix High girls swim team finished second Saturday, just one point short of Henley, in the Hidden Valley Meet at the Grants Pass YMCA. Kristen Heath won both the 200 and 500 meter freestyle for Phoenix while teammate Anett Buchheim and Jean Emerson came in second in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle, respectively. The Pirates also took second in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:56.94, setting a school record. In boys action, Phoenix took second with a team score of 73. Peter Thornhill captured first in the 100 backstroke and Richard White grabbed the top spot in the 100 butterfly. Teammate Tony Byrd also had a first-place finish with a victory in the 200 freestyle.
