Kantor serves up Phoenix victory PHOENIX � Casey Kantor had her hand in both game-ending serves Thursday in Phoenix�s Skyline Conference 15-11, 15-4 win over Mazama. Kantor toed the service line with the Pirates holding a slim 12-11 lead in Game 1 and nailed down the final three points. In the second game, with the contest well in hand, Kantor completed her 6-for-6 serving effort on the night with points 14 and 15 and Phoenix�s third conference win of the season. "That first game was very competitive," said Phoenix coach Tom Murphy. "In the second game, our passing was very good and our offensive attack started to take over." Sophomore setter Kelsey Russell helped the Pirates� attack with 31 assists and ran the offense efficiently. Senior outside hitter Sutton Jackson and Tiffany Ross each had 11 kills while Erin Toews added a stellar defensive performance. Phoenix improved to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play. HENLEY 15-15, HIDDEN VALLEY 2-0 � At Murphy, Henley�s taller hitters pounded the ball over the shorter Mustangs� block with regularity in improving to 4-0 in Skyline play. LAKEVIEW 15-15, NORTH VALLEY 5-3 � At Lakeview, the Honkers utilized a well-balanced offense to continue their undefeated season. Jamie Ruda led fourth-ranked Lakeview with seven kills, while Frances Hartman and Jess Childress each added six. Lakeview (13-0 overall, 4-0 Skyline) plays next at fifth- ranked Henley on Tuesday. ROGUE RIVER 15-15, ILLINOIS VALLEY 3-10 � At Rogue River, Ashleigh Artoff had four kills and 23 assists to power Rogue River to the Skyline Conference win. Sophomore Kristi Frederick had four kills and three aces for Rogue River (8-10, 2-2 Skyline). Katie Glasscock, another sophomore, added nine kills. ST. MARYS 15-15, CHILOQUIN 8-9 � Kristen Zielony had 10 digs and six kills to help St. Marys to victory in the Southern Cascade League opener for both teams. Jenny Gritch also had 10 digs and Lani Brophy added eight digs and 19 assists. Freshman Chrissy Seus had seven kills for St. Marys, which improved to 8-2 overall. NORTH LAKE 15-15, SUN RIVER PREP 2-6 � At North Lake, North Lake cruised to a non-conference win over Sun River Prep. CASCADE CHRISTIAN 15-15, BONANZA 11-5 � At Bonanza, Whitney Brookins had 24 assists and Kelly Clarke served seven straight points in the second game to lead Cascade Christian to the win. Clarke also had five kills and two aces while Krystal Holtz had a game-high 11 kills. Kristin Salamone added six kills for the Challengers, who improved to 7-1 on the season.
