In the highly-anticipated sequel now in theaters, the cast of “Pitch Perfect 2” is armed with witty humor to get laughs from beginning to end. Best be listening up. The lines come quick and the laugh reactions quicker. Pay particular attention to the opening scene: It’s the funniest. Audience members left the theater quoting lines, and most remembered the first scene in detail. The movie starts as the Bellas, an all-girl college a cappella group, perform at the Kennedy Center in front of the president and Mrs. Obama. Rebel Wilson’s character, Fat Amy, provides much of the hilarity as she spins in silks above the stage. Suddenly the audience begins to blush. Her pants split, right in front of the leader of the free world. Soon, all the major morning talk shows are weighing in on the controversy. The movie features recognizable TV personalities reacting to the news. The movie continues to show the Bellas’ attempt to win the world a cappella competition. If you are a fan of the first “Pitch Perfect,” you’ll love to see all the familiar characters. Overstrung, uptight Aubrey (played by Anna Camp) returns as the leader of a camp retreat where the Bellas visit. And Adam DeVine’s character, Bumper, comes back to try to win Fat Amy’s heart. Will they get together? Look out for a row boat, a familiar love song, and a determined young woman who underestimated the size of a lake. Anna Kendrick’s character, Beca, shines as she continues to make progress in forging a music producing career. She gets an internship and works toward earning her big break. And Chloe, played by Brittany Snow, is determined as ever to see the Bellas succeed. The movie features some recognizable performers in smaller roles and cameo appearances. “Married With Children” star Katey Sagal, Robin Roberts of “Good Morning America,” and Snoop Dogg have their moments to shine.
