It's the second time fire crews responded to the location, according to Jackson County Fire District 3 public information officer Ashley Lara. About a year ago, a shop on the property burned down because of an electrical issue, Lara said. The cause of Thursday's fire is not known, but authorities said it is likely accidental. Jackson County sheriff's deputies knocked on the door after getting a report of smoke around 5:30 p.m. but no one was home, Lara said. When deputies forced the door open, they were greeted by thick smoke, and a smoke alarm was going off. District 3 responded with four engines and about 20 personnel. Thick smoke and flames were visible from the rear of the house when they arrived. Crews extinguished the flames and remained on scene until about 9 p.m. to make sure the fire stayed out, Lara said.
