Sealy going to national bowling event As a young bowler, Jennifer Sealy realizes the significance of St. Louis as a bowling Mecca. Sealy will get a unique opportunity to compete in the midwestern city that is home of the bowling Hall of Fame during the biennial State Games of America on Aug. 10-12. The 17-year-old North Medford High incoming senior qualified for the national event by winning the singles handicap division in the State Games of Oregon in June. She won the gold medal with a 637 scratch series. "This is my first national event," said Sealy. "I really just wanted the experience to go where bowling is a major sport. Bowling is really big back East. I'm also excited about meeting different people from other states." Sealy, a fourth-generation bowler, presently carries a 164 average. She holds the high series (578) and game (253) for junior girls at Medford Lanes in the 2000-2001 season. This past winter, Sealy won the girls scratch division with a 586 series in the Medford City Tournament at Roxy Ann Lanes. During a high school tournament last year, she recorded her high series (699) and high game (258). Sealy is preparing for the national tournament with daily practice sessions at Medford Lanes. "I'm personally feeling I'm bowling the best I've ever bowled," said Sealy. "I try to stay laid back and let the ball do the work for me." Summer Everist, 20, of Central Point also qualified for the national tournament by winning the 2000 State Games of Oregon in the scratch 18-and-over division. But the 1996 junior bowler of the year at Roxy Ann Lanes will not make the trip to St. Louis to compete.
