I am writing in regard to not qualifying to receive a reserved or front lawn seat ticket to see Willie Nelson in June 2015. Because I am not a member of the $600 clef club, I did not qualify for a seat in either of these sections. They were all sold out before they reached my lowly patron membership. At the same time, I see reserved tickets being scalped on the "Vivid Seats" website at inflated prices. If I buy a $600 membership I can buy eight tickets for the best events and then sell them and get my money back for buying a clef or higher membership. I was told by the Britt office ticket seller that Britt can't do anything about the outside scalper sales. Why am I bothering to buy a patron membership? Something is wrong with this picture. I was also handed a list of Britt Preferred businesses. How much did they have to pay for that? Britt has also begun not allowing you to bring beer and wine to certain concerts which means long lines and more dollars. Trudy Staak Central Point Up from the ashes Like the mythical bird that Phoenix is named after, Andrea Adams and friends who operated the late, lamented The Greenery, have risen from the ashes to first open The Phoenix Clubhouse and now The Phoenix Press. The Clubhouse hosts an open mic every Wednesday plus various comedy and music acts. The Phoenix Press is where you can find various coffees from several different roasters. Ms. Adams has always stated she wanted to help Phoenix grow, and it looks like she is following through on her promise. Andrea Adams is the true embodiment of the Phoenix. She deserves our support. Steven Schulman Phoenix Thanks for kindness Heartfelt thanks to the man who was behind me in line and paid for my groceries at the north Fred Meyer about 4:30 p.m. on May 15. I had quickly left the store to find out what was wrong with my card before closing time. When I returned to purchase the groceries the manager told me he had paid for them. This comes at a time in my life when it is appreciated 10 times more than it would have just a few months ago. I will always remember this act of kindness. Thank you so very much! Christine Greene Central Point More than unusual The proposed elevated SkyPark housing units in and above a downtown Medford parking lot are more than “unusual” and more than a little non-standard, as stated in the article published Jan. 27. Above the article is an architectural drawing of what will be more flat roofed boxes that look like army barracks, but this one is on stilts! There will be a grand total of 82 parking spaces in, under, and around the housing units immediate area! Hhmmmm, doesn’t sound too homey yet. It is also in an odd visual location (Central between Ninth and 10th streets), and the “stilts” the “boxes” sit on as well as the parking underneath do nothing for the character of this project, and give pause for concern in the event of an earthquake. I see no “refreshed style” here as was stated by the architect in the article. I see another oddly slapped up structure in downtown Medford, giving the area a feeling similar to the health and human services building; no thanks, not interested. There must be a better way to showcase housing in the downtown area. L.
