Jessica Mendoza ( @jessmendoza ) will join Sunday Night Baseball as an analyst for the remainder of the MLB season pic.twitter.com/RmrbVm7kUk — ESPN PR (@ESPNPR) September 4, 2015 Mendoza was brought in to replace Curt Schilling in late August after the network suspended him for tweeting a message comparing Muslims to Nazis. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated , Mendoza shared hopes that she wouldn't always be the only woman calling baseball. "It is hard for me to understand why because I have always believed women can be just as knowledgeable in the booth while also bringing unique insights that allow a viewer to see a different angle to the game," Mendoza said. "I have worked with ex-MLB players [John Kruk and Schilling] in our coverage of the Women's College World Series and have found their insight to be knowledgeable and unique as well. I think the more we challenge ourselves to progress within sport, the more interest it will bring to those who may have been outside of it before."
