Suspect in fatal domestic violence incident arrested By Mail tribune staff Updated: Oct 22, 2021 10:35 PM A A David Allen Karnes, 54, of the 3300 block of Little Applegate Road, Jacksonville, was arrested Friday for second -degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Karnes is under medical care at a local hospital for a self-inflicted gunshot wound that occurred after he allegedly fatally shot his wife, Constance Maria Murphy, 54, early Wednesday. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported that Karnes barricaded himself in their home for nearly three hours. He shot himself as a SWAT Team entered the home. Karnes remained in a local hospital and was described as being in stable but serious condition, the Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
