OIT trips Raiders in semifinals KLAMATH FALLS � Tom Chipps scored 17 points in his final game for the Southern Oregon University men�s basketball team but it wasn�t enough. Oregon Tech�s LaMont Swinson tallied 20 points as the Owls downed SOU, 85-80, in a Cascade Conference semifinal game on Saturday. The Raiders ended the season with an 18-13 record. OIT moves on to face Albertson College, a 94-86 winner over Western Baptist on Saturday, in the conference final. The Owls shot 27 of 54 from the field and held SOU to just 38 percent shooting. Chad Paris, from South Medford, added 16 points for the Raiders, while senior Shavon Haynes, from Illinois Valley, scored 15. OIT (30-4) led by four at halftime and shot 58 percent from the floor in the second half to hold on for the win.
