She was born October 16, 1933 in Minot, N.D. to Loren Lee Stout and Mabel Elizabeth Meyerdirk. She grew up on their farm in North Dakota until she moved with her mother to Oregon as a teen. Dixie and James C. Hanley were married May 8, 1972 in Reno, Nev. It was the second marriage for both of them. Dixie enjoyed bowling, reading, cooking, traveling, dancing, gardening, and spending time with her family. She is survived be her husband, James C Hanley; children, Theresa (Hanley) Cowan, Sharon (Brown-Wood) Pitts, Susan (Brown) Swanson, Deborah (Brown) Baron, Sandra (Brown-LaBrant) Milligan, Wayne Brown, Viola Lynn "Rusty" (Hanley-Bintliff) Berry, and Michelle Hanley; sisters, Arlyn (Stout) Wadholm and Alma (Seidler) McGregor. She has 20 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren with another on the way, and 17 great-great-grandchildren with another on the way. She was preceded in death by her brother, Elwin "Teddy" Theodore Stout; step-daughter, Rhonda G. (Hanley) Edwards; and ex-husband, Clark W. Brown. Her burial will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery. VFW Chaplain Oscar Willis will officiate. Call the family or VFW for details.
