Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend September 20, 2005 Since You Asked Downtown project under way in Medford Two or three years ago the Tribune had a story about developing Bear Creek in downtown Medford — visions of the San Antonio Riverwalk, among other things. A firm from Colorado was hired, I remember, to do analysis and planning. Where can we review the completed study and plan? What is the status of the plan and its implementation? — Malcolm M., Medford Today we’re not Since You Asked, but "Glad You Asked!" The Medford Urban Renewal Agency has taken the lead on the revitalization of Bear Creek downtown, and MURA’s Eric Iversen is very excited about the project. He said the whole thing got off to a great start with the construction of the Ninth Street Pedestrian Bridge in the spring. He said the bridge was the first project called for in the Bear Creek Master Plan, completed by Design Studios West (DSW) of Denver. Since then, MURA and the city have retained DSW to develop design guidelines for Bear Creek and to develop more specific plans for the downtown portion of Bear Creek and the properties that abut it between 10th and Main streets. Iversen said their findings will be presented to the City Council at a joint noon study session on Thursday with the Planning Commission, Historic Commission and MURA board.
