Mount Ashland snowfall puts it just shy of record The snowpack atop Mount Ashland grew to 207 inches before things cleared off Sunday -- leaving it about five inches short of the highest total in recent memory. The snow level overnight was expected to dip about 3,500 feet, plenty low to add to that total by this morning. The National Weather Service forecast called for snow showers on and off through the night and today. Ski Ashland reported 10 inches of new snow for the 24 hours that ended Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. About 145 inches of snow had accumulated at the ski area's base. Crater Lake National Park reported a foot of snow overnight, bringing Sunday morning's total to 165 inches. "You can't even see out the second story window," park dispatcher Norris Gaines said Sunday afternoon as even more snow fell. No major accidents were reported on the state's highways, according to the Oregon State Police. Packed snow was reported on Highway 62 near Prospect and snow was falling and sticking Sunday afternoon on the Mount Sexton summit on Interstate 5.
