CASAs are independent of all other agencies which oversee cases where children have been removed from dangerous situations. Our role is for the child alone. The fates of these kids are in the hands of the Circuit Court, the child welfare system and the lawyers. My kids were injured but, to this date, no one has ascertained who in that household hurt them. Yet, today, my kids were returned to a parent and into precisely the same circumstances where the injuries took place initially. In fact, recent developments suggest their environment may be even more dangerous today. From a safe and nurturing foster home where I saw them, I now must seek them out, examine them for injuries and search premises for a new and questionable male in residence. Why this tragedy took place is bound up in the arcane machinations by which these agencies operate — not the least of them an unholy bias toward returning kids to parents, even when a reasonable citizen would not. We’ve all read horror stories about kids who “the system” ignored and were hurt or killed. I pray this will not be another one. If the designer of the new Phoenix interchange wasn't on wacky tobacky, they must go to the bar each night and have their usual laughs and drinks. Apparently the designer is going to retire soon and move out of the area. The original plan for the overpass was great — just widen the overpass to form left-turn lanes. It is safer to go to Talent and come back to go to businesses across the interstate. Nothing new should have to be gotten used to, especially when lives are at stake. R. W. Golphenee Medford The party of Trump I meet them all the time. They hate Obama. They hate gay people. They hate black people, immigrants, Muslims, labor unions, women who want the right to make choices concerning their bodies — they hate them all. They hate being called a racist. They hate being called a bigot. Maybe if they talked about creating jobs more than they talk about black people without automatically assuming they are on food stamps while demanding their birth certificates, we wouldn't call them racist. They hate socialism and social justice. They hate regulations and taxes and spending and government. They hate. They like war. They like torture. They like Jesus. I don't know how in the hell any of that is compatible, but no one ever accused the haters of being over-committed to ideological consistency. Oh, the sun came up. It's Obama's fault. There are a lot of Trump's poorly educated people. Let's make fun of a disabled person. Let's sucker punch a black person for using their First Amendment right. Shoving a women around like a pinball. This is the Republican Party of today. This is the party of Trump, and Fox News. Michael A.
