Snow levels west of the Cascades are expected to drop from about 2,500 feet today to near 1,000 feet by Saturday morning, said Jim Reynolds, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Medford. "That means pretty much the entire valley floor" could see snow, Reynolds said. "We’re looking for it to continue through the weekend." The weather service has issued a snow advisory for areas of southwest Oregon above 2,000 feet from 10 p.m. tonight until 3 p.m. Friday. Between 4 and 8 inches of snow could accumulate in those areas by Friday evening. A "heavy snow warning" was issued Thursday for two sections of Northern California, including the Mount Shasta area, Reynolds said.
