KPTV-TV reports a tree fell onto the truck between Cannon Beach and Seaside on U.S. Highway 26 about five miles east of U.S. Highway 101. Weather forecasters say winds topped 70 mph in Astoria Wednesday night. Oregon police were urging motorists in the area to avoid travel. The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning through early Thursday from Florence, Oregon, to Ocean Park in Washington state. Winds of 45 to 55 mph were expected, with gusts to 70 mph and up to 85 mph possible in especially exposed areas. The Federal Aviation Administration delayed flights for a time into the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Wednesday evening due to the wind.
