The mill, operated by J. T. Peterson and L. H. Bloomquist, makes all sorts of fruit boxes and packers, and also yellow pine shingles. "We were assured of local support," said Mr. Peterson today "before we put the mill in operation. Now when we are turning our product on the market, that support has failed to materialize. The growers and associations are sending to California for their boxes, although we can meet the prices of the California factories. People of this section talk about patronizing home industry. I would like to see them practice it." Samples of their products are on display at the Commercial club. BREVARD ELECTED AS MANAGER OF BASEBALL TEAM The Medford ball team last night elected R. J. Brevard to succeed R. L. Ewing as manager of the club. Mr. Ewing resigned as he was unable to take sufficient time from his business to devote to the team. The club is now over $200 in debt, in spite of heavy receipts at the three games with Weed in Ashland. According to Captain Miles, the club is determined to get out of debt and will play till Christmas if necessary to do so. He asks that Medford fans do their part in supporting the team. The next game scheduled is with Gold Hill next Sunday. Pruitt and Eddings will be the batteries for Gold Hill and Sieberts and Force for Medford. On account of discontent caused by the unfinished game at Grants Pass last Sunday, an effort is being made to match the two teams on neutral ground July 28 for a purse of $150 a side. It is probable that the game will be played on the Ashland grounds.
