White City woman dies, another seriously injured at Curry County RV park By Kevin Opsahl Updated: Jul 04, 2022 10:35 PM A A A 38-year-old woman died and a 46-year-old is in the hospital after a large van plowed through RVs, people at a park A White City woman died Monday afternoon and another from the same Rogue Valley town was flown to a hospital for life-saving treatment after a van struck some RVs and several people at a park in the coastal town of Harbor, according to Curry County authorities. Hiedei Bailey, 38, was pronounced dead after attempts at resuscitation by her sister and a local emergency room team, stated Curry County Sheriff John Ward in a press release. Rebecca Williams, 46, also was injured and was “being flown out to a higher care hospital at an unknown location.” A 79-year-old California woman also was injured, according to the release. Two children were inside an RV when the van struck theirs, but were uninjured. The vehicle, described as a “large Econo Van,” destroyed several camping items and picnic tables, along with two RVs and passenger cars at about 2:23 p.m. Monday. Police said they believe they have identified Paul Armenta, of Brookings, as the driver of the van. Although witnesses told officers it “appeared he was passed out behind the wheel,” the county’s district attorney was notified and deputies stayed with Armenta, who was transported for medical treatment and follow-up investigation. He later was taken to Curry General Hospital for “a possible head injury.” “The Curry County Sheriff’s Office will continue the investigation, and we would like to thank all those who helped in this investigation,” the news release stated. “We also express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Hiedei Bailey.” Reach reporter Kevin Opsahl at 541-776-4476 or [email protected].
