Toys for Tots is a nationwide program the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve began in 1947. To date they have distributed more than 113,000,000 toys to needy children. Donors can bring a new unwrapped toy to the Plaza Stage in Ashland from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Friday or bring a toy to the Holiday Home Tour scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 4 or Dec. 11. Tickets to the Home Tour are available at the Chamber office. All toys collected will be distributed in Ashland. The Young Marines will pick up the toys from each location at the end of the day. They also will be marching in Santa’s Parade, which kicks off Ashland’s Festival of Light Celebration at 5 p.m. Friday. Distribution will be from 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 18 at First Baptist Church, 2004 Siskiyou Blvd. The children’s parents or guardians typically get three to four gifts for each child. Recipients are asked to leave their children at home and bring proof that they are getting public assistance. For more information contact Dave Dotterrer at 488-7103 or Mary Pat Parker at 482-3486.
