The wet weather caused the track to become heavy enough to stop the modified main after 14 laps. Pappenhausen, of Chico, Calif., was never challenged for the lead. Duane Cleveland finished second, followed by Mark Wauge and Monte Bischoff. Reggie DeVore raced to the first main event victory of the season in the super four division. DeVore had a consistent night by winning the heat race, the trophy dash and main event. Terry Hadley came in second, followed by Joe Guider in third and Vicki Macormic was fourth. Advertisement Brian Merriman outdueled Jerry Appland to take the checkered flag in the dwarf car main event. Merriman managed a victory of about five car lengths over Appland, with Jeff Harsha placing third. Tony Christopher drove his way to his first-ever main-event victory at the speedway with a win in the mini stock featured race. Christopher took the lead on lap seven, except for briefly on lap 13, led the rest of the way. Toby Judd finished second and Larry Nelson was third.
