Murder suspect pleads not guilty By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Apr 27, 2022 05:13 PM A A Hannah Marie Martin, 21, one of two people charged in the March 22 murder and robbery of Brittany Laine Lovrovich in downtown Medford, pleaded not guilty Wednesday. Martin appeared by video for her arraignment in Jackson County Circuit Court Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and first-degree robbery. Martin, along with Zackary Carl Helwagen, 30, is accused of killing Lovrovich, 31, and stealing drugs from her in the 1200 block of North Riverside Avenue, between the Rumors Lounge and OK Market. Lovrovich reportedly went to the location to meet Martin and Helwagen so she could sell them fentanyl, a synthetic opioid. However, Medford police say, the suspects stole the drugs and Martin stabbed Lovrovich. Martin is being held without bail in the Jackson County Jail. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Martin July 11 in Jackson County Circuit Court. Judge Timothy Barnack will oversee the hearing. Helwagen, charged with second-degree murder and first-degree robbery, pleaded not guilty March 30 and remains in custody at the jail without bail. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference May 23 before Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Laura Cromwell.
