Jodie Roher and her 2-year-old son, Aiden, were driving on Interstate 10 in Tucson in June when a car changing lanes hit the family’s Chevrolet Tahoe and sent the SUV spinning into the path of a semi-truck. The truck hit the SUV and caused it to roll, according to media reports on the crash. Jodie Roher, who was buckled up, climbed from the crushed Tahoe with a concussion, two black eyes and a cut on her shoulder that required stitches. Strapped in tight, little Aiden hung upside down — but uninjured — until Tucson firefighters freed him. The Rohers lived in Eagle Point for nine years before moving to Tucson in February, Ryan Roher said. Before the move, the family had District 3 firefighters put in the safety seat during one of the district’s regular safety-seat checkups. "It didn’t budge," said Ryan Roher. "They saved his life." Advertisement The Rohers recently sent District 3 firefighters media reports about the crash and a handwritten thank-you note. "We’ve been doing the free safety-seat checks for several years," said Don Hickman, District 3’s deputy district fire marshal. "We know we put them in so they are bullet-proof. It’s just a service we provide. "To get some feedback about a great outcome is always good," he said.
