Man allegedly beat woman with massage tool Shadow Omallah Iles Thursday Jul 27, 2017 at 4:59 PM Jul 27, 2017 at 4:59 PM Vickie Aldous Mail Tribune @VickieAldous A Medford man is facing attempted murder and assault charges after allegedly attacking a woman with a rolling pin-style, back-massage tool. Shadow Omallah Iles, 45, of the 200 block of Sparrow Way is accused in an indictment of using a ma roller during a July 20 domestic violence attack on the woman. Often made of wood, a ma roller is like a rolling pin with knobs. It is rolled up and down the back to massage muscles on each side of the spine. Manufacturers claim using a ma roller relaxes tense muscles and is similar to getting a deep-tissue massage. Iles faces charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and strangulation, according to Jackson County Circuit Court records. He entered not guilty pleas to the charges Thursday and has a pre-trial conference hearing set for Aug. 8. Iles is being held in the Jackson County jail on $500,000 bail. In 2011, he was convicted of driving under the influence of intoxicants and refusal to take a test for intoxicants. Iles was convicted again in 2015 for driving under the influence of intoxicants, according to court records.
