Mail Tribune Business - Zoning request postponed
Document text
Zoning request postponed The city Planning Commission took no action Thursday night on the future of a residential property in southwest Medford. Property owner Wayne Weldon wants to put a business at the northeast corner of Stewart Avenue and King Street, but he needs permission from the planning commission first to rezone it commercial. Neighbors have voiced opposition to Weldon's original plan, which called for a dry cleaning business. Weldon owns Weldon's Cleaning Centers. He is now negotiating with a bank, but he still needs the zone change. A public hearing was scheduled Thursday, but Weldon asked for more time to complete a traffic study, according to city Planner Jim Maize. The commission decided to take testimony anyway, postponing a final vote later. Nobody stepped forward to testify. The hearing was rescheduled for Dec. 9. It has now been postponed twice in a row.
