CRIME Woman admits to passing counterfeit bills Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Mar. 31, 2016 at 4:27 PM Posted Mar. 31, 2016 at 4:27 PM » Social News A Coquille woman admitted Thursday to passing fake $50 and $100 bills at several Medford-area businesses. Sarah Rose Brown was sentenced to 20 days in jail Thursday in Jackson County Circuit Court after admitting to four felony counts of first-degree forgery. According to Jackson County District Attorney Beth Heckert, Brown passed phony $50 bills at Oakdale Market and other area businesses between Aug. 26 and Sept. 1, and tried to pass forged $100 bills at a Medford Walmart. As part of a plea agreement, charges were dropped for a Sept. 13 incident in which she got a Fred Meyer store to make change for a forged $100 bill, but Brown was ordered to pay restitution in the case. Court-ordered restitution was estimated to total $461.39, and Circuit Court Judge Kelly Ravassipour ordered Brown to report to the Jackson County Jail at 9 a.m. Friday to serve her sentence. Brown was ordered to serve 18 months' probation, and was banned from Muchas Gracias, Oakdale Market, Fred Meyer and Black Bird stores.
