The fifth-ranked Black Tornado (25-4) return to the semifinal round after a two-year hiatus and has a chance to get back to the title game for the first time since 1998, which ended with a state- championship trophy. The championship game will be Saturday at Erv Lind Stadium in Portland. North, which won 111 of the 122 games played from 1996-1999, while hoisting two state-title trophies in three championship appearances, has outscored its three playoff opponents this season 14- 1. Black Tornado pitcher Keri Sevano (18-1), the Southern Oregon Conference player of the year, hopes to tame the sixth-ranked Rams after breezing through the past two games with a combined 12 runs of offensive support. She didn’t allow a hit until the sixth inning of Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Sprague and has yielded only one run through 19 innings of work in the playoffs. Central Catholic (20-4), the Mount Hood Conference champions, moved into the semifinal round with a 4-2 victory over top-ranked and defending state champion Canby.
