JCSO Photo The skeletal remains found Jan 10 off the Roxy Ann Peak Trail were positively identified as Armando Leigh Soto, 33. Soto lived in the Medford area since 2015, and was reported missing June of 2020. He was originally from Yuba City, California, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday morning. The positive scientific identification was confirmed by physical examination and comparison to dental records. The records were from 2019 and obtained from the Oregon State Hospital. An Oregon State Police forensic pathologist performed an autopsy Tuesday on Soto at the OSP Morgue in Central Point. There was no evidence of injury, trauma or suspicious circumstances. Cause and manner of Soto’s death are undetermined because of the body’s advanced decomposition, however. A man reported finding Soto’s remains the evening of Jan. 10. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office detectives went to the location the next morning along with members of a Search and Rescue ground team and Human Remains Detection dogs and recovered Soto, according to previous reporting.
