Ashland City Band Jul 30, 2009 12:00 AM A A The 70-member Ashland City Band, under the direction of Don Bieghler, will continue its annual summer concert series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at the Butler Band Shell in Lithia Park, off the Ashland Plaza on Winburn Way. The concerts will take place every Thursday through Aug. 13. Pre-concert entertainment featuring The Swing Kings will begin at 6:15 p.m. This week's program:"Strike Up The Band," by George and Ira Gershwin, arranged by Wayne Pegram The National Anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner, arranged by John Philip Sousa. Diane Hedges, vocalist "Mustang!" by Eric Osterling "Second Suite for Military Band" by Gustav Holst "The Swiss Shepherd" by P. Morlacchi, arranged by Nora Kile, Joanna Martin, flute soloist Highlights from "Les Miserables" arranged by Johnnie Vinson "Nordic Sketches" by Pierre LaPlant "España Cañi" by Pascual Marquina, arranged by Robert Longfield "Salute to Bob Hope" arranged by Warren Barker "The Loyal Legion" by John Philip Sousa ENCORE: "Liberty Bell" by John Philip Sousa Admission is free.
