By JONEL ALECCIA Mail Tribune At age 10, the Medford girl already is fluent in hardship. She confided to her mother this year that a family member had been sexually abusing her. When her mom brought her for treatment to the Children’s Advocacy Center in Medford, organizers there learned that the family faced other obstacles as well. Advertisement The girl’s father is disabled and using oxygen to breathe. The family car broke down. There’s no medical insurance and no money for Christmas preparations. In September, the house caught fire. Since then, the 10-year-old has been without a bed. This Christmas, she could really use a good, clean twin-sized mattress, said Jackie Ralph, an advocate with the CAC. Of course, there are other needs as well. Clothing in junior size 14, gift cards or movie rental certificates would be appreciated, Ralph said. Donations can be delivered to the CAC, a nonprofit agency that serves more than 700 physically and sexually abused children each year.
