North Lake girls thump tentative Cougars Girls prep basketball SILVER LAKE -- With a league championship on the line, North Lake stepped up its game Saturday in girls Skyline A League Southern Division play. The host Cowboys broke a tie atop the league standings with an impressive 45-29 victory over Prospect. North Lake jumped to a 17-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back thanks to a determined nature and a lackluster performance by Prospect. "They really took it to us and we just weren't ready to play," Prospect coach Don Alexander said. "We just didn't seem like the same team that has been there all season. We did things that we don't normally do." The Cougars (16-5) committed 23 turnovers and had trouble finding their shooting touch and intensity throughout the contest. "It just seemed like they were kind of waiting for it to happen, and I guess we waited too long," Alexander said. Stephanie Munroe had 15 points and Leann Nelson added 10 to lead North Lake (11-1 Sky A). Jenny Moore had 10 points to pace Prospect (10-2 Sky A). Lindsey Stockton added 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds for Butte Falls, which improved to 11-12 overall and 8-4 in Skyline A League Southern Division play. Faith Hashek scored 14 points to pace New Hope Christian, which trailed 33-7 at halftime. North Valley forced eight turnovers during that stretch and Arnado nailed both of her 3-pointers to provide a cushion heading into the fourth quarter. Enoch added seven rebounds, while Sarah Towns had 13 points and eight rebounds for North Valley (11-6, 6-3 Skyline). Jamie Holloway paced Lakeview with 11 points.
