Feb. 19, 1916 ANTHONY ELECTED DIRECTOR MINERAL SPRINGS COMPANY ASHLAND, Ore., Feb. 19 — At a special meting of the stockholders of the Pompadour Mineral Springs company, held in Ashland today, Charles G. Anthony, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., was elected a director of the company. Mr. Anthony, who is the consulting engineer of the New York state reservation commission at Saratoga Springs, and who is the most eminent authority on mineral waters and their handling, both in a commercial way and along the lines of hydrotherapy, is now in the east preparing plans and specifications for a bottling plant and for a plant to handle the large flow of carbonic acid gas, which the company has. It is understood these plans will be received about March 1 and that shortly thereafter the actual construction work will be started under Mr. Anthony's supervision and direction. The permanent identification of Professor Anthony with the mineral water situation of the Rogue river valley means much to the development of that wonderful natural resource. While here Professor Anthony lectured at Ashland and Medford on the value of the local waters and gas, and stated that the waters were unusual in their character, superior in many respects to those at Saratoga; that they were both a table and medicinal water, and that they were exceedingly high in radio activity, in fact it would not surprise him if they equaled or exceeded in radio activity the waters of Bath, England, the standard of the world. With his connection with the local government and the possibility of making this section of the Rogue river valley one of the world's famous health resorts is much nearer than ever before. JACKSONVILLE ITEMS The box social given by the Royal Neighbors last Monday evening provided a success, both financially and socially. An excellent program was rendered, after which the boxes were sold and the guests retired to the banquet room. Dancing was indulged in until a late hour.
