LICENCE FOR FM RADIO STATIONS

Will the Minister of INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING be pleased to state: 


(a) whether the Government proposes to issue new licences to the private players for setting up of FM Radio Stations in the country; 
(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise including West Bengal; 


(c) the names of the private players/operators who have applied for licences to start new FM Radio Stations in the country during the 
last two years and the current year, State-wise including West Bengal; and 


(d) the follow-up action taken thereon ?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION & BROADCASTING (SHRI ५. M. JATUA) 
(a) Yes, Sir. 


(0) Government had issued licences to private FM radio broadcasters under Phase-l and Phase-ll of expansion of FM radio 
broadcasting services through private agencies. Government has now proposed to issue new licences to the private FM radio 
broadcasters under Phase-lll for which Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) was requested to submit their recommendations. 
TRAI have since sent their recommendations on Phase-lll of FM radio expansion, which are under consideration. 


(०) and (d) No, Sir. The question of receiving applications for new licences does not arise as the FM Phase-lll policy is not yet 
finalized.
