MEEM AFZAL: Will the Minister of
INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING be
pleased to state:
(a) what are the security arrangements that
Government have made for its AIR, Delhi Staff
who are deputed to work at the Regional News
; Unit (RNU), Srinagar;
(b) whether Government have provided
insurance cover to the deputationists of AIR,
Delhi News and their dependents; if so, what is
the amount of insurance and if not, the reasons
therefor;
(c) what is the total staff stength of the Urdu
News Unit in Delhi;
(d) what is the number of Urdu news-readers
and translators of the Delhi Urdu News Unit in
NSD who have been deputed to the RNU,
Srinagar;
(e) what is the number of Urdu news-readers
and translators of the Delhi Urdu News Unit
who have not been deputed to the RNU, Srinagar
so far; and
(f) what are the reasons therefor?
THE MINISTER OF STATE OF THE
MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND
BROADCASTING (SHRI K.P. SINGH DEO):
(a) Adequate security arrangements are made
for the security of staff of AIR, Delhi deputed
to Srinagar.
(0) Yes, Sir Besides the normal insurance
cover under Central Government Employees
Group Insurance Scheme, 1980, there is
provision of ex gratia payment of Rs. 5 Lakhs
as also additional compensation to the families
of media personnel who are killed in a terrorist
attack or encounter with anti-social elements.
(c) The sanctioned strength of NRTs in the
Urdu news unit in News Services Division is
36,73,01,447
13, of which one post is vacant.
(d) to (f) Out of 12 NRTs working in the
Urdu Unit in NSD, 9 have been deputed to Radio
Kashmir. Three NRTs have not been deputed ~
due to administrative and compassionate
reasons.

Pannel to decide on the operation of Foreign
TV Stations and FM Channels from India;
(b) if so, who are the Members of this Panel;
(c) what are the terms of reference of the
Panel;
(d) what are the different aspects which wil!
be considered by this Panel; and
(e) by when it is likely to submit its Report?

(a) whether Government's attention has been
drawn to a news-item published in the
Statesman, dated 12th June, 1994 under the
caption "या plans to set up film city";
(b) if so, whether the FTII propose to set up
film city at Pune;
(c) if so, the allocations likely to be made;
