Community Drinking Water Purification Plants

Will the Minister of DRINKING WATER AND SANITATION be pleased to state: 


(a) whether the Government has set up or proposes to set up community drinking water purification plants under Public Private 
Partnership (PPP) mode in the rural areas of the country and if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise; 

(b) the number of Community Drinking Water Purification Plants currently operating in the rural areas of the country, including Madhya 
Pradesh; and 

(c) the estimated number of people using these facilities in the country, State/UT-wise?

(SHRI RAMESH CHANDAPPA JIGAJINAGI) 


(a) With the recommendation of NITI Aayog, Government of India had provided funds to the tune of Rs 800 crore for installation of 
community drinking water purification plants in arsenic and fluoride affected habitations so that 8 to 0 litres per capita per day of safe 
water for drinking and cooking purposes is made available to the affected population as a short term measure. The State-wise 
number of arsenic and fluoride affected habitations including Madhya Pradesh to be provided with community water purification plants 
targeted for installation by March’ 207 is at Annexure-l. 

(0) & (c) As on 2/4/206, 8,039 community drinking water purification plants were installed in 8,028 rural habitations as reported by 
the States into the online Integrated Management Information System of the Ministry and population benefitted is .0 crore. State- 
wise details are at Annexure-ll.
