HART®-

(Out 2 (Temp)).
folgende Werte:
Arbeitsbereich: —42...184 °C
Anzeigebereich: —22...179 °C
Schaltpunkt: 70 °C
Hysterese: 2 K
Messgenauigkeit: typisch + 7 K
Wiederholgenaugkeit: typisch + 1 K
Out 2:,Active high" (Transistor) bzw. Schleier (Relais)

Gerät (hier FM-IM/FMX-IM) übermittelt seinen klassischen Schaltausgang an

baustein),
über toolbasiertem Engineering über FDT/DTM (z. B. PACTware™ unter
Verwendung des DTM bzw. der IODD)

3.5
3.5.1
| Geräte-Parameter (On-request Data Objects)

Dies dauert mindestens 10.

The devices are used to indicate and monitor process factors. If the devices are
used in an ulterior way, this is a violation of the intended use. The devices must
not be used as the only means to prevent dangerous situations on machines
and installations. Machines and installations must be designed in such a way,
that flawed conditions can not lead to a situation that is dangerous for opera-
tors (e.g., with the help of independent limit switches, mechanical locks, etc.).
Qualified personnel
The devices must only be operated by qualified personnel and only according
to the respective technical specifications. Qualified personnel are persons who
are familiar with the assembly, installation, start-up, and operation of the de-
vices and who have the respective occupational qualification.
Residual risks
The devices are state-of-the-art and are operationally reliable. Residual risks
may stem from the devices when they are used and operated in a way that is
unintended and by untrained personnel.
CE-conformity
The devices meet EN 61326 and may only be used in industrial applications.
The declaration of conformity can be found in the product database under the
device-specific information for download.

Information for using devices with intrinsically safe circuits
(only FMX-IM-3UP63X, FMX-IM-3UR38X and FMX-IM-2UPLi63X)
On the terminals marked blue, the available devices control circuits with pro-
tection type “Intrinsic Safety” for explosion protection per EN 60079-11. The
intrinsically safe circuits have been certified by authorized approval agencies
and have been approved for use in the respective countries. It is imperative
that you observe and comply with the national rules and regulations for the
intended operation in explosive areas.
The following contains some information, especially in regard to the frame-
work guideline of the European Union 94/9/EG (ATEX).
The device at hand is a complementary operating device, which has both in-
trinsically safe and non-intriniscally safe circuits. Only installation outside the
explosive area and in dry, clean, and well-controlled rooms is permitted.
Intrinsically safe electrical operating devices can be connected to the intrinsi-
cally safe connections. All operating devices must meet the prerequisites for
operation in the existing zone of the explosive area. If the intrinsically safe cir-
cuits lead into dust explosive areas of Zone 20 or 21, it must be ensured that the
devices that are connected to these circuits meet the requirements of Category
1D or 2D and that they have been certified accordingly. If the operating devices
are connected, “Proof of Intrinsic Safety” must be performed (EN 60079-14).
With the one-time connection of intrinsically safe circuits to non-intrinsically
safe ones, the later use as an operating device with intrinsically safe circuits is
no longer permitted.
Respective regulations are valid for installing intrinsically safe circuits, for
mounting on outside connection parts, as well as for the condition and the
laying of cables.
Cables and terminals with intrinsically safe circuits must be marked - use light
blue for colored marks. They must be isolated from non-intrinsically safe cir-
cuits or they must have respective insulation (EN 60079-14). A distance (thread
measure) of 50 mm must be observed between the connection parts of intrin-
sically safe and non-intrinsically safe circuits. Connection parts of intrinsically
safe circuits must be 6 mm apart from each other.
Please comply with the specified distance between the intrinsically safe con-
nections of this device and the grounded components and connections of
other devices. Unless explicitly specified in the device-specific instruction, the

approval expires when the device is opened, and when repairs or changes are
made on the device that are not done by the technical expert or the manu-
facturer.
Visible changes on the housing of the device, for example brownish black co-
loring caused by heat, as well as holes or indentations point to a significant
defect. The device must be immediately switched off.
In regard to complimentary operating devices, the connected intrinsically safe
operating devices must also be checked. Only a technical expert or the manu-
facturer must check a device in regard to explosion protection. The operation
of the device is only permitted within the frame of the approved specifications
or the technical data printed onto the housing. Especially observe possibly lis-
ted special conditions in the CE-type examination or in the Conditions of Cer-
tification of the IECEx CoC.
Prior to each start-up or after changing the device connection, it must be ensu-
red that the respective regulations, rules, and general conditions are complied
with and met; the device must be operated as intended and safety regulations
must be followed.
Trained and qualified personnel with knowledge of relevant national and ap-
plicable international regulations for explosion protection must install the de-
vice and connect it.
The special requirements IECEx CoC can be found under . We
will provide additional information about explosion protection upon request.

Device description
The signal processors of the FM(X)-series are used to monitor flow and tempe-
rature of fluids and gases and are designed to be used together with flow sen-
sors. All TURCK flow sensors of the series FCS-...-NA (immersion sensors) and
FCI-...-NA (inline sensors) can be operated without any limitations.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Flow sensors to be used
A complete overview of the TURCK flow sensors that can be operated with the
devices, as well as a table with combination possibilities for sensors and signal
processors can be found in the product flyer “Intelligent signal processors for
flow sensors” (D101879).
Device characteristics
For various applications, the devices are available in six versions, which differ
from each other with respect to the available output versions (PNP-transistor,
relay, and 4...20 mA current output), as well as the connection possibility for
Ex-sensors (only FMX-devices).
All devices can be operated and parametrized with pushbuttons or with soft-
ware via IO-Link or HART®. The 3.5 mm front-side jack plug COM (PC) or the
respective terminals on the signal processor are available for communication.
A connection to a IO-Link or HART®-Master is not needed to operate the device.
The Quick-Teach-Procedure is a special feature of the FM(X)-series. It enables
the switchpoint to be set quickly on devices with a switching output for flow
monitoring, without the need to teach the entire display range.

3.3 Device functions
3.3.1 Flow monitoring
The main function of the device is the monitoring of the flow rate. The flow
rate is measured by a calorimetric sensor in a pipe; the actual flow status is
displayed via a LED-band; it is also sent via a communication signal - when
connected to an IO-Link- or HART?-Master.
The device versions with switching output (Out 1 (Flow)) for flow monitoring
change their switching status when the set switchpoint has been reached with
an increasing flow rate. If the flow rate decreases, the switching status changes
when the switchpoint is underreached by the hysteresis. In addition, upper and
lower limits of the display range for flow monitoring can be set.
The device versions with current output for flow monitoring are only indicating
the actual flow within the teachable display range.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Factory settings
If the existing application parameters do not match the factory settings at first
start-up, error displays of overreach or underreach of the display range of the
flow rate may occur.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Operating range of flow monitoring
The operating range of the devices is independen from the applications the
connected sernsors are approved for. Their display range must therefore be
adjusted to the actual application range.
| BASIC TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Functionality of calorimetric sensors
. Calorimetric sensors indirectly measure flow rates by monitoring temperature
of the flowing medium.
For that purpose the temperature is measured on a heated and an unheated re-
sistor. When the medium is resting, the measured temperature difference is at
a maximum value. The difference decreases with increasing flow rate, because
heat is led away from the heated resistor. When the temperature difference
reaches the value 0 K, the maximum measurable flow rate has been reached.
With calorimetric sensors monitoring of the temperature of the medium occurs
via the unheated resistor, thus offering an additional feature of system monito-
ring, especially for cooling systems.
Temperature monitoring
The calorimetric active principle of the sensors supports temperature mo-
nitoring in close proximity. The devices display the actual temperature on a
LED-band; it is also indicated via a communication signal when connected to
a Master.
The temperature is displayed by pushing the "Set" button in the display mode.
The temperature is only displayed as long as the button is pushed down.

3.4
3.4.1
Device description
For temperature monitoring all devices have a switching output (Out 2 (Temp)).
The devices change their switching status when the set switchpoint has been
reached with the rise in temperature. If the temperature falls, the switching
status changes when the switchpoint is underreached by the hysteresis (2 K) .
The switchpoint is teachable.
The following default values are valid for the temperature monitoring function
of the device:
Operating range: —42...184 °C
Display range: —22...179 °C
Switchpoint: 70 °C
Hysteresis: 2 K
Measurement accuracy: typical + 7 K
Repeat accuracy: typical + 1 K
Out 2:“Active high" (transistor) or closer (relay)
Parametrization possibilities
The devices are adjusted to the respective installation situation via Paramet-
rization. Parametrization is possible with the help of pushbuttons or via soft-
ware.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Parametrization is not possible during the heating phase
After start-up or connection of a sensor, the device is automatically in the hea-
ting phase (see Chapter 3.5.3 on p. 15).
Pushbutton Parametrization
Parametrization with the help of pushbuttons occurs in the Teach-Mode as
guided cycle.
In regard to flow monitoring, the Parametrization possibilities depend on the
respective device type; in regard to temperature monitoring, all devices have a
settable switchpoint for temperature monitoring.
For devices with switching output for flow monitoring, the switchpoint for flow
monitoring is settable, together with the limits of the monitored display range.
Setting of the switchpoint without the additional setting of the display range
is possible via the Quick-Teach-Procedure and as an alternative to the guided
cycle.
For devices with current output for flow monitoring, the limits of the monitored
display range are settable.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Locking in the pushbutton guided menu
During the time the data processing device communicates via IO-Link, the
pushbutton-guided menu is locked; this means, the parameters can no longer
be changed via the pushbuttons. However, the process values can be accessed
via the pushbuttons. The IO-Link mode is signaled via LED (see below).
The ports of the IO-Link-Master can be configured in the IO-Link-Mode (IOL) or
in the Standard-IO-Mode (SIO).
If a port is configured in the SIO-Mode, the IO-Link-Master on this port behaves
like a normal digital input and the connected IO-Link device (here FM-IM/FMX-
IM) sends the standard switching output to the IO-Link-Master - there is no
communication between the device and the master.
If the port is configured in the IOL-Mode, the IO-Link-Master tries to wake the
connected IO-Link-device via the “Wake-up Request”. If the master receives a
response from the signal processor, both devices start to communicate with
each other. First, the communication parameters are exchanged; then the cy-
clic data exchange of the process data (Process Data Objects) starts. The IO-
Link mode is signaled via LED (see Chapter 4.2 on p. 16 and Chapter 4.3 on
p. 18).
With cyclic communication, the data is transmitted according to the following
process data image:
15 14 13 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 2 1 0

For the outputs Out 1 (Flow), Out 2 (Temp) and Out 3 (Fault) the following swit-
ching states are valid:

1: Switching output on or relay contact closed
In case of active IO-Link-communication (IOL-Mode), both cyclic and acyclic
communication services are available.

Device description
Parametrization via IO-Link can occur in different ways:
via On-request Data Objects (e. g., IO-Link-function block close to the
control),
via tool-based engineering via FDT/DTM (e. g., PACTware™ with the use of
DTM or the IODD)
BASIC TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Device parameters (On-request Data Objects)
Device parameters are exchanged in an acyclical manner and upon the request
of the IO-Link-Master. The IO-Link-Master always sends a request to the device
first, then the device responds. This is the case when the data is written into the
device and read from the device. With the help of the On-Request Data Objects
(ORDO), the parameters can be written into the device (Write) or the device sta-
tus can be read from the device (Read). A respective overview of the available
services can be found in the complimentary handbook "IO-Link-Parameter —
FM-IM / FMX-IM" (D101920).
Software-supported HART?-Parametrization
If the device is operated with HART®, Parametrization is possible both via push-
buttons or software without separate operating mode. Permanent transmission
of process data is also possible.
The digital HART?-communication occurs with the help of Frequency Shift
Keying (FSK), which is modulated onto the actual 4...20-mA current signal:
1200 Hz equals the logic 1 (High)
2200 Hz equals the logic 0 (Low)
With it process data and diagnostic data (Read) as well as Parametrization
commands (Write) are transmitted.
Parametrization with the help of HART? can occur via tool-based engineering
via FDT/DTM (e.g., PACTware™ with the use of the DTM).
Diagnostic functions
Error monitoring
The data processing devices FM(X)-IM are signaling defined errors via the LED
"Fault" and the relay or transistor output Out 3 (Fault). The relay output Out 3
is permanently set as opener or the transistor output Out 3 is permanently set
as "Active Low" and can not be parametrized. In the case of an error, the output
Out 3 is switched off and the relay deactivates.

on p. 18.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Error functionality
An error message, "Flow Speed Below Operating Range" does not exist, because
this error is not measureable. The lower limit of the operating range matches
the almost resting medium.
DeltaFlow-Monitoring
DeltaFlow-Monitoring is an internal function where the flow rate is monitored
and compared during a predefined time period. The user has no control over
this function. Teach values can only be stored when the system is in a steady
state; this means that changing the flow rate would only produce a sufficiently
small value.
DeltaFlow-Monitoring prevents that values are stored at a point in time where
the physical system (consisting of sensor and medium) still remains in the tem-
perature adjustment phase, thus leading to erroneous results.
Furthermore, the heating of the sensors after start-up is monitored with this
function (see Chapter 3.5.3 on p. 15).

Heating phase
The heating phase describes the time a sensor needs to reach its operating
temperature after start-up. The heating phase is signaled via LED (see Chapter
4.3.1 on p. 20) Parametrization is not possible during the heating phase, all
keys and outputs are disabled..
The heating phase is defined as a combination of a fixed waiting period (t, )
of 10 s and the sensor's variable heating period of (t see Chapter 3.5.2 on
p. 14). That is: t =t La,e5105

The duration of heating depends on the sensor's operating temperature and
cannot be parametrized by the user.

Operating elements
Operation and Parametrization of the main functions of the device can be done
via three pushbuttons, "Enter “Set” and "Mode" on the front side of the device.
The"Enter" button is used to store values and to start the Quick-Teach function.
Because of safety reasons, the pushbutton is recessed and can be pushed
down with a pointed object like a pen.

The“Set” button is used to display the temperature (with pushed down button),
to increase teachable values and to continue in the Teach-Mode.
The “Mode” button is used to start the Teach-Mode, to decrease teachable
values and to skip steps in the Teach-Mode.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Termination of the Teach-Mode
By simultaneously pushing the “Set” and "Mode" buttons, the Teach-Mode and
the Quick-Teach function can be interrupted at any time. The device automati-
cally skips back to the last display mode of flow monitoring.
Display elements
The operating modes of the device, monitored values, a Teach-Mode guide,
and diagnostic values are displayed via 14 LEDs with different colors (see
Figure 1 on p. 9).
The LED “Pwr” indicates through constant green illumination that the device is
in operation. When the device communicates via IO-Link in the IOL-Mode, the
LED is blinking with an inverted flash (900 ms on; 100 ms off) and in synchrony
with other LEDs on the display.
The LED “Flow” displays the switching state status of the switching output
Out 1 (Flow) and turns yellow as soon as the switchpoint has been overre-
ached. With devices with current output, the LED “Flow” remains illuminated
as soon as the current signal (4...20 mA) is sent. Furthermore, the LED specifies
the display during error diagnosis and in the Teach-Mode.
The LED “Temp” displays the switching status of the switching output Out 2
(Temp) and turns yellow as soon as the switchpoint has been overreached.
Please note that the temperature is only displayed temporarily by pushing the
“Set” button (see Chapter 3.3.2 on p. 10). Furthermore, the LED specifies the
display during error diagnosis and in the Teach-Mode.
The LED “Fault” is illuminated red in connection with errors that impact the
function of the device and that trigger switching output Out 3. A specification
of the error occurs by combining other LEDs (see Chapter 4.3 on p. 18).
In the display mode, the LED-band shows the actual process values and taught
switchpoints.

Display and operating elements
When flow monitoring taught via the max/min-setting is displayed, the LED-
band remains green to the level of the currently measured flow value. The dis-
play range of flow monitoring ranges from 0 % to 100 % within the teachable
limits. At the same time, the display is unit-less and proportional to the flow
rate.
When flow monitoring taught via the Quick-Teach-Procedure is displayed,
the LED 5 of the band remains yellow and represents the flow rate taught as
switchpoint. If the flow rate is over or under the switchpoint, the respective
LEDs of the band display are green above or below LED 5. The higher the num-
ber of illuminated LEDs, the greater the deviation from the switchpoint. The
display is unit-less.
When the temperature of the medium is displayed, the LED band remains
yellow up to the level of the currently measured temperature in the display
range of —20...+179 °C.

Diagnostic displays of DeltaFlow-Monitoring
DeltaFlow-Monitoring (see Chapter 3.5.2 on p. 14) is signaled differently in
both of its applications.
DeltaFlow-Monitoring in the Teach-Mode is signaled as follows:
Depending on Teach-Function, synchronous yellow blinking of the entire
LED-band or of a single LED indicates a high temperature gradient (significant
change of the flow rate).
Synchronous green blinking of the entire LED-band or of a single LED indicates
a sufficiently small temperature gradient (insignificant change of the flow rate).
The Teach-Mode is continued.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Specification of the DeltaFlow-Display
The exact number and positions of the blinking LEDs is provided in Chapter 7.1
on p. 26 under the respective Teach-Function.
DeltaFlow-Monitoring during the heating phase after the start-up (see Chap-
ter 3.5.3 on p. 15) of the sensor is signaled as follows:
Synchronous yellow blinking of the LED-band and the LED “Flow” in a one-
second interval indicates heating of the sensor.
When the sensor is heated, the device automatically switches to the display
mode of the flow rate. This takes about 10 s.
The following table shows the general LED signals of DeltaFlow-Monitoring.
