Video testimony from Lance Twiggs, the former romantic partner of suspected Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson, will be presented in court Thursday morning as a week-long preliminary hearing nears completion. Prosecutors initially planned to show the video Wednesday, but following defense objections, Judge Tony Graf Jr. ordered redactions. Prosecutors chose to delay until Thursday morning to ensure compliance with the court's directive. Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk, shared emotional moments with her mother-in-law, Kathy Kirk, and shed tears during proceedings. The family's attorney, Jeff Neiman, requested the unredacted video be shown to "all the world to see," arguing that redactions would create "doubt and distrust in the judicial system." Neiman stated: "The Kirk family believes strongly that if the evidence is being admitted in this preliminary hearing, it should be made public for the world to see no redactions." The judge approved redactions of approximately 16 minutes from the roughly 37-minute video statement following constitutional concerns raised by Robinson's defense attorney Richard Novak about televising a potential "confession" before trial. The video reportedly documents discussions of texts, chat logs, and notes that prosecutors characterize as admissions of responsibility. Some previously publicized texts show Robinson allegedly mentioning being "stuck in Orem," where the shooting occurred. Robinson appeared visibly uncomfortable throughout the hearing, particularly when Twiggs, his romantic partner at the time of the shooting, was mentioned. Judge Graf confirmed the preliminary hearing will conclude by 5 p.m. Friday. Robinson has not entered a plea and faces potential capital punishment if convicted.
