Introduction
The g lobal climate is warming primarily due to the accumulation of
greenhouse gase s in the atmosphere from human activities like burning
fossil fuels. Future climate conditions will depend on the amount of future
greenhouse gas emissions and how sensitive the climate is to those
emissions (IPCC, 2013) .
To support the development of the City of Ashland’s Climate an d Energy
Action Plan, this document presents h istorical trends in Ashland’s
temperature and precipitation alongside future projections related to both
average and extreme temperature and precipitation. Later sections analyze
historical trends in Rogue Basi n snowpack and future projections in
snowpack and streamflow , as well as historical trends and future
projections of wildfire in the western U.S.
